McCray still going strong: I’m pumped for 2022

JohnE McCray turns 50 this year, and he has been playing disc golf competitively since 1995. To say that this bearded disc golfer has experience is an understatement (502 PDGA career events, 192 of them wins). After getting through a rough 2021 with a shoulder injury and family losses, JohnE is in his own words: “Stronger than ever. I am pumped for 2022!”

Team Latitude 64 for another year! How are you feeling?

“I FEEL great. I’ve done a lot in the off season to rehab, workout and practice every day”, JohnE says.

Last year you were going through some rough times. How did that affect you?

“My injurie and my mental state got the best of me. Losing my mother, sister, father in law and my animals hurt me deeply then my shoulder injury took me out for six weeks. My shoulder is much better and my mental state… well, that just takes time to heal those family losses.”

What’s your status now?

“Healthy, lighter and stronger than ever. I am pumped for 2022. I am turning 50 this year and can’t wait to compete against these young guns.”

What are your plans and goals for 2022?

“My main goal for 2022 is to place in the top 5-10 at every event. That’s not going to be easy against the younger players but once I put my mind to something, I go hard at it”, JohnE says.

What’s your thoughts on the two new Royal molds Hope and Glory? Are any of them ending up in your bag?

“I am enjoying both discs and I love the Royal plastic. The feel of the plastic is just awesome and the Hope is already one of my favorites.”

Good luck, JohnE! We’re looking forward to see you make those ridiculously long turbo putts on a DGPT lead card.
